Students’ Workload: Work to Pay for College and Living Expenses

A working student is quite a common practice in modern society.

And it is not about part-time students, but about actively working full-time students. In general, there is nothing fundamentally new. Often, work takes time away from training, and you have to make choices.

Over the last 15-20 years, the attitude of employers and teachers towards working students has changed significantly. Most people understand that finding a job after graduation is almost unrealistic unless you have at least minimal professional experience. After all, no distribution has long existed.

The main motives for the employment of students are the following:

1. The purchasing power of the scholarship. It used to be possible to earn a scholarship, but now many young people are unlikely to have enough food to eat. Additional funds are needed for the apartment, clothing, and entertainment. And the young man wants a lot of things, and not just cheap. The student understands that it is worth taking care of yourself. Good financial support for the family reduces the likelihood of a combination of study and student work. Early on, students from single-parent families where only one parent works are beginning to think about their employment. There is not enough money for married students. Among working students, the majority are those who study at the expense of the state. Those who live far from their parents obviously work more.

It is clear that a student cannot claim a full-fledged rate, as a rule, he receives 40-50% less than a specialist with a graduation certificate. Such discrimination is explained not only by the fact that students belong to the category of temporary staff, which at all times are paid less. The fact is that the student has insufficient communication and practical skills. Therefore, quite often some of his work has to be done by other specialists.

2. The need to pay for tuition by contract students. Not all students can pay for the full tuition, but only partially. It was more gratifying to those who were being paid by enterprises and organizations for the purpose of further employment.

3. Opportunity for professional growth. Many young people aspire to get into a prestigious organization for a small position in order to gain practical experience and take the first career steps by the time of graduation. In addition, employers are beginning to become more interested in work experience and experience rather than excellent grades. Therefore, it is important to get a job in a specialty. The undeniable plus of working in a profession is that the student will not only be able to earn, but also gain the necessary experience. Moreover, if he can prove himself well, there is a chance to continue cooperation with the company. However, not all of them work in a specialty.

It is clear that a student employed full-time while studying at a university is becoming, in a relatively short period of time, an employee who has significant advantages over both a non-working university graduate and an employee who has not completed full-time higher education. It distinguishes from the first one, firstly, the great activity, and secondly, the need and ability to coursework writing service support theoretical knowledge with practical skills and experience; and from the second – the desire for systematization and theoretical substantiation of practical observations and methodological findings, as well as commitment to democratic, partnership relations in work.
